As we approach Rosh Hashanah, a holiday rich in meaning and tradition, I find myself reflecting on its significance, even though I may not personally observe it. I'm Nathan Derry with JohnHart Real Estate, and while this particular holiday isn't part of my own cultural practice, I have deep respect and admiration for those who do celebrate it. The core values of reflection, renewal, and community resonate with me and hold lessons for all of us.

Rosh Hashanah, often referred to as the Jewish New Year, marks the beginning of the High Holy Days, a time when observers look inward, reflect on the past year, and set intentions for the year ahead. The blowing of the shofar, a ram's horn, calls for spiritual awakening—a powerful reminder that we can all take stock of our lives and the impact we have on those around us.

In a world that feels increasingly divided, I think there’s something incredibly beautiful about pausing to reflect and to renew not just ourselves but also our relationships with others. Rosh Hashanah invites us to focus on the values of compassion, forgiveness, and unity—values we could all benefit from embracing a little more in today's environment.

I may not celebrate Rosh Hashanah in the traditional sense, but I celebrate its spirit. I honor those who take this time to reflect and renew, and I stand with all my neighbors, Jewish and non-Jewish alike, in a collective hope for a better, kinder, and more understanding world.

Let us all take a moment to appreciate the beauty of this holiday. In its essence, it’s not just about personal renewal, but about honoring those around us. Especially now, more than ever, it's important to love and respect our neighbors, no matter our differences.
