The 11th Annual International Mariachi Women's Festival is set to take place on July 13, 2024, at Grand Performances, and it's an event you won't want to miss!

A Rich History of Female Empowerment in Mariachi

The Mariachi Women's Festival, organized by the Mariachi Women’s Foundation, is a unique celebration dedicated to showcasing the talent and contributions of female mariachi musicians. This year, the festival will honor the 30th anniversary of Mariachi Reyna de Los Angeles and the 25th anniversary of the two-time Grammy-winning Mariachi Divas de Cindy Shea. Both groups have made significant strides in preserving and innovating within this traditionally male-dominated genre, bringing femininity and fresh perspectives to mariachi music.

Event Highlights

• Mariachi Reyna de Los Angeles: Established in 1994, this group has paved the way for female musicians in mariachi, performing alongside stars like Tom Cruise, Oprah Winfrey, and even the Obamas.

• Mariachi Divas de Cindy Shea: Founded in 1999, this eclectic and innovative group has a repertoire that ranges from mariachi classics to jazz and pop. They are known for their elegant performances and have been the official premier all-female mariachi group of the Disneyland Resort since 2003.

• Special Performances: This year's festival will also feature Mariachi Femenil Corona from Guadalajara, Mexico, performing in the U.S. for the first time, and Mariachi Femenil Voces de Mexico, showcasing their traditional and innovative repertoire.
